What do you see when you look at a glass full of tap water? Though you may not be able to see bacteria in water from naked eye and it may appear real clean to you, but the truth is that it is highly contaminated. There are numerous impurities in it and many of them have proven to be associated with cancer too.

If you take a sample of tap water and use a standard home testing kit to check its quality, you will realize that it has all types of impurities including chlorine, pesticides, cysts, virus, metal traces etc.

The very thought of consuming viral and bacteria water makes me feel sick.

If you have a strong immune system, you are lucky because you will be saved by the harm that bacteria water can cause to you. But this water is extremely harmful for people who are on medication, pregnant mothers and kids. Their immune system is not that strong to combat these hazardous micro organisms.

Remember the typhoid epidemic which broke sometime in the late 60’s? It was caused due to the presence of bacteria in water. They can also cause other waterborne diseases like cholera and dysentery.

Water supply companies do take some action to control the growth of bacteria in water. While the correct ways to do this would be via using ultra violet light, adding iodine or boiling the water; they are not used by most of the companies.

The reason for not using these recommended techniques is the cost and effort required in them. Instead the technique they resort to is – using Chlorine.

Chlorine is an excellent disinfectant – no doubts about that – but it kills not only the bacteria in water but the cells in our body as well. If such chlorinated water is consumed, it can lead to various serious ailments including rectal and bladder cancer.

The bottom line is that the water supply companies cannot do anything better than adding chlorine to take care of bacteria in water. But at least you can do something to remove this deadly chlorine and other contaminants from the water, before your family consumes it.

The best way for ensuring the quality and purity of the drinking water is to have a water purification unit installed at your home. The Environment Protection Agency recommends the ones based on advanced filtration techniques like carbon filtration, sub micron filtration and ion exchange.

Such purifiers are capable of handling practically all types of organic and inorganic contaminants.

The best part about these purifiers is that they are very reasonably priced and are very easy to maintain. There are some which produce quality water in less than 10 cents per gallon. Is it not an insignificant amount to ensure the health of your family?

Now that you know about the presence of contaminants and bacteria in water, why not start looking out for a good purifier for your home? You can start your research by visiting my website listed below. You can find more information about an effective and efficient water purifier detailed there.

Every year at the onset of the winter season, it seems this starts the season for colds and flu as well. Viruses abound and the importance of a healthy immune system is extremely important to help fight off the illness. It is important to know that viruses can actually live in the air for hours before infecting someone. So, when you are out and about, picking up a virus from someone who is ill is not uncommon.

The immune system is actually at work fighting colds and flu when you begin to sneeze and cough. This is your systems way of trying to flush it from the body. If you have a healthy immune system, you can harbor the virus and not show any signs of illness. The key to fighting seasonal illnesses is to stay healthy.

Natural Resistance is the Key

How do you strengthen the body’s natural resistance? There are many ways of staying as healthy as possible. One that cannot be emphasized enough is washing your hands. This is the number one way germs are spread. If you consider how many things you touch each day that are laden with germs, you will never again put your hands near your mouth without washing them.

From the grocery store, where shopping carts are a breeding ground to your children who are in contact with other children, the germs are everywhere. Fighting off illness is going to be a matter of boosting your immune system so the invading virus cannot make you ill.

A healthy immune system is accomplished by getting enough sleep, eating plenty of the right foods and exercise. One thing most people do not know is white blood cells are essential to fighting anything that invades the body. When we sleep, the body makes these cells to help ward off illness. So, rest is essential to staying healthy.

Healthy foods provide the nutrients and vitamins needed to keep the immune system functioning properly. Exercise is one way of fighting stress that is common in our everyday lives. The combination of things you can do to stay healthy will be the key to preventing the seasonal colds and flu that show up every year.
Vitamins and Supplements

Another great way of staying healthy is by taking transfer factor immune system supplements. When we are born, the protection provided by our mothers if we are breast fed, is in the form of tiny molecules that transfer immunity information. This is why it is important that babies get the first breast milk from their mothers. Babies are not born with the natural immunities that will ward off illness.

Transfer factors do three things. They teach the body to recognize the virus, illness or foreign substance. The next thing they teach is to react to the invader to get it out of the body. Last, the immune system will remember this invader and begin to fight it immediately should it return. This is one of the best ways of fighting the flu and colds.

When the winter season approaches, keep in mind what you can do to stay healthy. The more precautions you take the better the chances of getting through seasonal illness.

A recent N1H1 Swine Flu report of Los Angeles California stated that the serious hospitalized swine flu cases that resulted in deaths, showed that two thirds of those who died were obese. Unfortunately, in Los Angeles two thirds of all citizens are overweight. You can see why it is dangerous to use such statistics, because people might get the impression that you don’t have anything to worry about unless you are overweight.

The reality is that people who are very skinny tend to get sick much more often than people that have a little bit of extra weight on them. That is to say people with extremely low body fat do actually get sick more often than people that have an adequate level of body fat. And it should also be noted that swine flu can affect anybody. So just because you are skinny does not mean you are immune to it, and just because you are a little overweight doesn’t mean you will die from it.

Additionally, those that were made admitted to the hospital for bad cases of swine flu, who happened to be extremely overweight, most likely had other health risks as well, such as diabetes, or onset diabetes. Generally, people who are extremely overweight or obese already have a host of numerous other health issues, prior to contracting the virus.

Whereas, the report was interesting, it didn’t tell us much more about swine flu, or the risks associated with people being skinny or fat. Therefore, using such reports and the mass media is extremely dangerous. Just like using political correctness in the healthcare industry would be incorrect thinking. Further, it’s far too easy for citizens to misinterpret this data, or for an irresponsible reporter to misconstrue the reality. Indeed, I hope you will please consider this.
